How Long Does It Take To Get In Shape?
It happened again.
Just like last year, we’ve been sucked into the new season of the Halloween Baking Championship on The Food Network.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Blakley has declared she’s entering her “baking era.”
Here’s her first attempt at scones made in the Airstream yesterday:
Blakley’s Cherry / Almond Scones
One thing I’ve noticed with these baking shows is how critical it is for the contestants to get their cakes baked perfectly.
If it’s undercooked, they never win the challenge.
If it’s overcooked, it’s a guaranteed loser.
And the thing about baking a cake is, it’s gonna take however long it takes.
A baker short on time can’t just double the temperature to bake the cake in half the time.
I’m sure a newbie is tempted to try, but it just doesn’t work.
The same goes for the results you want with your fitness.
Weight loss. Strength gain. A lean and toned physique.
There’s a recipe and a process required if you want the results to last.
You’ll be tempted to try a shortcut:
A 14 Day Detox
No Carbs
7 Sweatfests Per Week
They’re all ways of trying to crank up the oven to cook your cake in half the time.
It’ll look good at first, then burn up in the end.
If you’re like me, you’ve already learned this lesson the hard way more than once over the years.
The good news is, the real recipe for long-lasting health and fitness doesn’t require you to go to extremes like those flash-in-the-pan solutions.
A little strength training. A little smart conditioning. Balanced nutrition. A healthy mindset.
Do those things consistently, and you’ll “win the challenge” every time.
