The Danger of Fitness Perfectionism

“If I can’t do it perfectly, what’s the point in trying?”

That mindset doesn’t make you disciplined.

It makes you an L7 weenie. It’s a Sandlot reference, kids 😜.

Without realizing it, you’re handing yourself a preloaded excuse to quit the moment things get hard.

You know perfection isn’t possible or required.

But grit, discipline, and persistence? Those are.

Still, here’s how perfectionism sneaks in:

You cave and grab a donut at work... and instead of moving on, you write the whole day off and go full “screw it” mode.

Or this one…

You realize you only have 25 minutes to work out... so you skip it entirely, then feel so “off-track”, you don’t train again all week.

Or…

You missed the chance to do your normal meal planning on Sunday… so you convince yourself the whole week is a waste.

That’s not having “high standards” for yourself.

That’s perfectionism dressed up as logic, and it’s killing your consistency.

And I say this with love: that’s a weenie move.

If you’re nodding along or squirming a little, it’s because this is speaking to you, and I want to help you break free from it for good.

Think about your life…your work, relationships, parenting…

Where else are you perfect?

I’m guessing nowhere. And yet, you’re probably doing just fine.

Look around. Who do you know that’s truly perfect?

No one. Not even the people who look like they’ve got it all together in their curated social media feed.

Luckily, health and fitness aren’t about being perfect for 30, 60, or 75 days straight.

It’s about being consistent—not consecutive.

80% forever beats 100% for a little while.

So here’s your permission:

Drop the pressure.

Expect imperfection.

And when life inevitably throws you off? Don’t retreat.

Adapt. Adjust. Keep showing up.

That’s how we help our clients win, and that’s how you can win as well.

Hope this helps.
