Want to actually look like you workout?
Ever tried to get in shape or lose weight by “eating better” and “moving more”?
Lord knows I have.
It doesn’t work — and here’s why:
It’s like trying to remodel your kitchen by “getting some stuff from Home Depot.”
Sounds productive.
Might feel productive.
But it’s too generic. And the results?
Meh.
This kind of vague fitness advice sounds helpful, but it’s usually the reason people stay stuck.
Let me show you why it never works.
“I’m eating better…”
Okay, cool — but what does that actually mean?
Swapping the fries for a salad once a week?
Leaving the bun off your cheeseburger?
Cutting out carbs (until Friday)?
Buying grain-free tortilla chips?
How has that worked out for you?
Right — meh.
Try this instead:
👉 Set a goal of hitting 30g of protein in at least 3 meals per day.
Doesn’t matter if it’s eggs, chicken, tuna, protein powder — whatever.
Do that for a week. Track it. Repeat.
That’s eating better with direction.
“I’m moving more…”
Awesome — but what kind of movement?
Random group classes that make you sweat but don’t build strength?
Long walks that feel good but don’t change your physique?
Workouts based on how you feel that day?
Again — not useless… but not transformative either.
Try this instead:
👉 Lift weights 3 times per week.
Pick 6–8 exercises. Hit 2–4 sets.
Push yourself to within 1–2 reps of failure.
Rest enough between sets to go hard again. Track your progress.
That’s how you change your body — and actually look like you work out.
After coaching hundreds of regular people over the last 10+ years, we can tell you this:
Most people aren’t lazy or unmotivated.
They’re just stuck in the loop of doing “healthy stuff” that never adds up to real progress.
You don’t need a new diet or a hard-core workout routine. You don’t need to suffer.
You just need a better plan — and a little consistency.
Hope this helped cut through the noise a bit.
Gotta run. We’re hitching up in Tucson and headed north to Sedona for the rest of the week.
Let me know if there’s something we shouldn’t miss while we’re there!
