Is It Too Late To Get In Shape?

“I start off with curls. That’s good for the bicep. 10 reps, 2 sets.”

Blakley and I were watching Seinfeld reruns while making dinner in the Airstream the other night.

Kenny Banya was explaining his workout routine to Jerry over a bowl of soup he traded for an Armani suit. IYKYK.

Kenny asks Jerry:

“You work out with weights?”

Jerry says:

“No.”

Kenny says:

“You should.”

Jerry asks:

“Why?”

And Kenny just stares at him… completely realizing he has no idea why.

Which is funny because a lot of people still think lifting weights is only for bodybuilders, meatheads, or 22-year-olds trying to get “huge.”

Meanwhile, strength training is probably the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth.

It helps you:

  • Build lean muscle and look more athletic

  • Boost your metabolism

  • Improve bone density

  • Protect your joints

  • Improve balance and mobility

  • Increase energy and confidence

  • Age like an athlete instead of a prune

For us, one of the coolest parts of our job is seeing how our clients’ strength carries over into their real lives.

We constantly get messages from clients telling us how much better they feel because they’re stronger now.

More confidence.

More capability.

More energy.

They’re carrying heavy luggage without struggling.

Moving furniture without throwing their back out.

Keeping up with their kids.

Feeling comfortable in photos again.

Looking in the mirror and finally seeing someone who looks healthy, athletic, and alive instead of exhausted and unmotivated.

And no… women do not accidentally wake up looking like linebackers from lifting weights.

Muscle takes a LOT of time and effort to build.

What actually happens for most people is they get stronger, leaner, firmer, and feel better in their own skin.

Also contrary to popular belief…

Strength training is incredibly safe when done correctly.

Safer than a lot of the random, high-impact stuff people force themselves to do in the name of fitness and burning calories.

If you’re lifting weights consistently already, keep going.

If you’re not sure what exercises to do, how much weight to use, or whether what you’re doing is actually working…

That’s exactly why our program exists. (Shameless plug.)

If you’ve been thinking about getting started, but keep putting it off…

Make this your sign.

You are not “too old.”

It is not “too late.”

And future-you will be very glad you started.

You can work 1:1 with us. We’ll handle the details, you just show up and enjoy the results.

Until Friday… Lift heavy and be nice.

Jonathan
